Abstract Currently, the number of accredited programs in Korea is significantly lower than expected, due to difficulties in adapting the concept of professional degree curriculum set up among other reasons. The difficulties stem from short history of initiating the professional degree program, and also largely due to the unique methodology adapted by architectural accreditation system in general. In order to overcome these difficulties, this study is to examine relationship between a curricular set up and the accreditation condition (Student Performance Criteria) by analysing curriculums in the U.S. This study founds that the criteria known as 'communication', 'cultural & theoretical' showed more required courses assigned than that of 'practice' and 'technical'. Also, standard deviations of assigned number of courses are found for each criteria to study a pattern. This study is to provide an indirect experience for our accreditation community to augment our knowledge, and to promote further related study based on fundamentals found in this study.
