Abstract |
In 1920·30s Italy, with a social/economic crisis, urban·architectural situation reflects Fascism Architecture which the urban resources were used for a political purpose. After World War Ⅱ, postwar reconstruction and industrialization were the mainstream in Italy. Meanwhile, the film director Michelangelo Antonioni(1912~2007), was influenced by neorealismo, used the postwar cityscape of Italy as 'image element' in his film(mainly focusing on the cities; Milan, Ravenna, and Southern Rome's EUR). He expressed the social values and emotions of urbanites with direct and critical perspectives. The 'Cityscape' here is the concept which includes not only the scenes of nature and a city itself but the life of urbanites. This paper has an objective on how Antonioni used urban·architectural elements to reveal the periodical situation through his film. |
