Abstract |
The structure systems of slab in the steel structure to increase the efficiency of the internal structure system use the long span and the lightweight construction materials. However, the floor structure system with the long span and the lightweight materials will increase the response of the vibration by the people's walking, the vibration of equipment/facilities, and the other impact force. Because the response of the vibration according to the serviceability of the building is increasing, effective vibration reduction method to the floor structure is required. The stiffness increasing method using enlarging the size of the structure member reduce the vibrations of the floor structure, but the structure system have limited on the cost according to increasing in the weight and floor height. The most effective method is to increase the damping of the structures to reduce costs without increasing the size and stiffness of members. In this study, the constrained viscoelastic layer damper was suggested to improve the damping performance for reducing the vibration of slab in the steel structure. After the constrained viscoelastic layer damper was installed in the experimental structure, the experiments were conducted using loads by the walking and the impact ball. The suggestion method was verified as effective method to reduce vibration of the floor structure. |
