Abstract In this study, the seismic performance of wind-designed steel diagrid tall buildings in regions of strong winds and moderate/weak seismicity was analytically evaluated. First, the diagrid tall buildings were designed to satisfy a wind serviceability criterion specified in KBC2009. Then, a series of seismic analyses were performed under various exposure and slenderness ratio (building height-to-width ratio) conditions. The analyses demonstrated the good seismic performance of these wind-designed diagrid tall buildings because of the significant overstrength of the diagrid system. Also, the analysis results showed that the elastic seismic design process of some diagrid tall buildings may be accepted based on exposures and slenderness ratios.
