Abstract This study analyzed Bogeumjari Housing Policy using gender analysis framework based on Structuralist Landscape Assessment, (SLA) to propose future policy directions of gender-sensitive public housing policy. 'Care crisis' was identified as one of the most urgent gender issues in urban residential environment, which resulted from the spatial dichotomy of urban spaces, associated with the gender ideology of 'the Family' based on gender division of labor, underpinning modern industrial society. In this regard, 'social care' was highlighted as contributing to the gender equality of residential environment. Therefore, gender analysis for public housing policy examined how Bogeumjari Housing Policy provided and supported the environment for social care. Future policy directions for gender-sensitive Bogeumjari Housing Policy were proposed as follows; (1) public housing policy should be based on the gender equality as one of the fundamental social values, (2) residental planning should aim for 'a social care model,' (3) community planning should be designed to overcome gendered spatial dichotomy, (4) community should be considered as a basic unit of social care, (5) quality care service and facilities should be provided on site, (6) the means to catch 'real' user voice should be devised in order to meet the diverse user needs, (7) residents' participation should be encouraged in the policy process, (8) the specialized gender analysis tool should be developed for gender budget.
