Abstract There are many kinds of teaching methods in Architedtural Design Studioo. Lecture, case study, field survey, team discussion, desk crits, open crits and so on. The most popular and important of these are desk crits and open crits. This study aims to survey and review the teaching methods in Architectural Design Studios in KOREA focused on desk crits and open crits. For this study, we surveyed the design teaching system of 50 universities through 53 design tutors in by questionnaires. And intensified survey was taken to selected design studio in Y-university for three years. The contents of the questionnaire include following items; ① The ratio of desk crits and open crits in design studio. ② The pros and cons of desk & open crits from the viewpoint of tutors and students. ③ Students' preference of teaching methods.(Between these two) And the results of the study will be available for design tutors in architectural design studio and many other researchers who are interested in design education and teaching methods.
