Abstract The purpose of this study is to grasp the ecological design method of Lucien Kroll. Kroll's architecture in our architectural field is mainly comprehended to the eco-social approach on user's participation. By this study, his architecture can be more widely comprehended. Kroll's ecological design methods and techniques become clear by the analysis of his statements, writings and constructions. The ecological design method is put in order by five types as follows; Paysage, Participation, Organic Architecture, Open Building and Eco-Friendly Technology. Paysage consists of the techniques of embodying cultural landscape. Organic Architecture the techniques of considering context and organic space, using complex elevation and mixed materials, and producing natural lighting. Participation the techniques of using communication tools and simulation, and prefabricating infill. Open Building the techniques of improving SAR module, diversifying architectural composition system, and designing adaptive use. Eco-Friendly Technology the techniques of pursuing global access and practice. This study summarizes Kroll's ecological design method into relative structure. Through the relative structure summary, we can have a good grasp of his ecological design method. Kroll's ecological design method can be evaluated as total approach for ecological matter. In case of application of Kroll's ecological design method in our country, deeper approach may be required in the fields of eco-friendly architecture, housing, redevelopment and rebuilding, and urban regeneration.
