Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship of occupant satisfaction in office buildings with operable windows which is for natural ventilation and cooling. Occupant satisfaction consists of three categories, satisfaction to indoor air quality, satisfaction to indoor thermal environment, and satisfaction to maintenance management services. The survey was conducted in October, 2009 and the participants were 3443 peoples in total for 29 office buildings - 19 buildings which have operable windows, and 10 buildings which doesn't have operable windows. Occupant satisfaction to indoor air quality(IAQ), indoor thermal environment and maintenance management is higher in the buildings of which windows are operable than the buildings of which those are not operable. The buildings of which floor area are less than 20,000m2, and of which have operable windows showed comparatively high occupant satisfaction.
