Abstract This study aims to evaluate the lighting design using exterior lighting pictures of bridge. In this paper, we conducted subjective evaluation experiment after we extracted evaluation vocabulary via interview surveys. Then, we conducted a factor analysis of an evaluation result and analysed evaluation characteristics of bridge lighting. The results of this paper are as follows: 1) Prior to subjective evaluation, 20 evaluation vocabulary were extracted to use as a measure of the subjective evaluation for the bridge lighting from interview surveys. 2) The 3 factors such as , and were selected from the result of the factor analysis in order to make sure the evaluation structure of bridge lighting. 3) In image, the lighting of Cable Stayed Bridge with Pylon was evaluated high, and the lighting of girder bridge, equipped with no upper structure or decoration, was evaluated low. 4) The lighting of the girder bridge was divided into orange colored bridge lighting where it was evaluated high in image, and blue, green and red colored bridge lighting where it was evaluated low in image. However, blue, green and red colored lighting of the Cable Stayed bridge was evaluated high in image.
