Abstract |
Modern construction industry is confronted with larger, complex projects, which renders most of existing safety management methods obsolete in terms of real-time monitoring. Especially, construction of earthwork should be provided with effective and systematic safety management methods, because even a single failure might cause a catastrophic impact on the entire project. In this study, various factors concerning safety of the earthwork are categorized with the following aspects: economy, constructability, stability, and efficiency; then, their weights are determined using AHP analytical method, yielding quantitative indexes for assessing earthwork safety. The results from this study will serve as decision-making aid for deploying the USN technology to future construction work sites. |
