Abstract The paper researches the reasons why Hadrian's Villa works as an architectural source for a long time through architectural history, the cases in which the Villa applies to the precedent, and various possibilities that the Villa is made use of the classic from the viewpoint of architectural design. First of all it examines the building process of the Villa and the overall properties, and then it analyzes the influence of the Villa with the various documents and architectural works after the 16th century. It classifies the characteristics of the Villa into four items, which are 'Representation and Source of Ideas', ' Formal Image as Ruins', 'Organic Layout', and 'Complex Plan Composition'. The Villa influences architecture since the Renaissance up to the present. Various values complex and conflict involved in the Villa are selected and represented according to the times and architectural ideas. It understand that Hadrian‘s Villa has regularity behind the diversity and exist as historical example which is still valid for the present to look for new architecture.
