Abstract In this paper, the stabilizing process of cable dome structures, Sky-parasol, was simulated by using dynamic relaxation method(DRM) with kinetic damping technique and constant length of curved catenary cable element. By using the algorithm of this paper, the initial catenary shape of cable dome which is used as the basic model, can be obtained by deleting some diagonal and under cables from the initial design shape for stabilizing process analysis. And next step, the analysis model can be prepared by inserting diagonal and under cables for erection process analysis from the resulting shape of initial catenary shape of cable dome. The element force of cables and change of shape of cable dome are obtained from the stabilizing process analysis by incremental stress jacking for diagonal cables. By using the method of this study, it is possible to simulate the characteristics of cable dome as for shape finding and determination process of cable forces during erection process.
