Abstract The purpose of this study was to analyze the application characteristics of environment-friendly design elements at outdoor space in apart complexes. For this reason, the subjects of analysis were focused on the turn-key projects of ‘Gim-po Han River New Town’. The concept of environment-friendly design was thought in four parts: ‘Land use and transportation’, ‘Ecological environment’, ‘Energy resource and environmental impact’ and analysis factors of each part were chosen by specific items from the prospective researches and guidelines that already given on the projects. As a result, it was founded that the application characteristics of environment-friendly design elements tended to depend on only a few design elements related to site planning and architectural design elements. This problems must be improved by changing the planner’s perception on the environment-friendly design and developing the evaluation factors of green building certification system.
