Abstract It is important that the daylight performance is evaluated in initial design step. However daylighting performance evaluation method is not efficient and difficult to calculate an exact result because new 3-Dimension geometric model is made after drawing up two-dimension plan in initial design step. But Building Information Modeling(BIM) is possible to evaluate on same model although that has geometric design. BIM contains information about building that is supposed to analyze, it can cooperate in variety of field like structure, construction, plan, equipment, environment and so on. This cooperation work is possible by Revit and Lighting Analysis Performance with 3ds Max Design. In addition, BIM is very fast to use and efficient owing to easiness of changing plan. Algorithm of 3ds max design to evaluate lighting environment considers both Radiosity and Ray-trace method. Existing lighting environment evaluation methods do not reflect various sky condition. So, new evaluation method that is possible to analyze under both various sky condition and standard climate data are suggested. This research provide the efficient plan and daylighting performance evaluation method in initial design step. The evaluation result can be represented by the data, visual graph and realistic image. This advantage expect to be used for prediction of daylighting performance effectively in initial design step.
