Abstract This study selected the major waterside buildings located at original downtown in Mokpo and Yeosu which are major coastal cities of Jeollanam-do province as the subjects of research. It examined and analyzed facade colors of buildings on the street along the waterside and investigated connection between composition methods of facade design factors and landscape colors and general satisfaction positively in order to provide the basic materials for future research. As a consequence, it was analyzed that color control of facade design factors of buildings in Mokpo should be managed by sense of rhythm, harmony with surrounding buildings, publicity, harmony with surrounding environment and landscape color composition. And facade design factors to be controlled by these composition methods of landscape colors include the awning and signboard colors of disordered and strong self-completed tendency and the first floor and entrance color which are not discriminated and specialized from pedestrian's position. It was found that color control of facade components of buildings in Yeosu should be accomplished by the harmony with surrounding buildings, sense of rhythm, and composition methods of landscape color of locality. It was also analyzed that facade components to be managed by these composition methods of landscape colors included the upper stories of outer wall over auxiliary color related to main color not the colors of annexed buildings, roof, color glass and harmony with color on the first floor of outer wall.
