Abstract The “Street Design Business’ currently executed by each self-governing body as an ‘Environmental Improvement Business’ focusing on functions and simple and standardized administration desperately requires a design plan in which aesthetic factors and experiences of the urban environmental plan are possible. This study was planned to suggest a design plan approach for the visual environment and satisfactory walk of the urban streetscape business. ‘Picturesque’ which started from the poems and pictures in the 17th century with the characteristics of asymmetry, irregularity and organic forms took root as the English streetscape design in the 18th century and became the basis of the ‘Urban Picturesque’ notion of the 19th and the 20th century. This study derived the correlation and characteristics of each genre as well as the ‘Picturesque’ notion in the pictures and landscape and applied the principle of the ‘Urban Picturesque’ to actual streets in order to extract the usability and applicability of the notion. In conclusion, the site proved to be the street with natural landscape and view when it is seen as a layer type of road on the map since modern times until now, and it was recognized that the road system was not changed much. This is assumed to have the organic and atypical components in compliance with the spatial properties of the ‘Picturesque’. The appropriate introduction and reflection of the ‘Urban Picturesque’ elements to the ‘Urban Landscape Design’ business that will be executed focusing on Eupseong, Daegu in the future will be a chance to search for the possibilities of the visible quality improvement of the urban environment and extension of the design plan method.
