Abstract The purpose of this research is to develop indices to compare more than two networks using the integration proposed by space syntax and to review the usability of such indices. This research has been conceived from the limitation of existing studies where the integration is used only to compare the relative size of nodes that exist within a network. In a bid to fulfil the purpose of this research, we have proposed a methodology through which integration values of all nodes within a network are set as a group; and the average, scatter diagrams (coefficient of variation), and skewness (kurtosis) that are generally used in technical statistics are utilized to represent the group. In consequence, it was shown that these four indices allowed a certain network to be differentiated from other networks, and the characteristics of the indices could explain empirical characteristics of a certain urban spatial structure. The indices developed by this research are expected to be used for evaluation of alternative urban plans.
