Abstract This study suggested the concept and the methodology of ‘E-GIS(Energy & Environment-Geographic Information System) DB‘ which is planning information on the side of urban planning and managing energy and environmental information systematically for realizing Low Carbon and Green Growth. A case study was executed on Residential Development District in Gwangmyeong and Siheung in Korea. The results are as follows. 1)E-GIS DB consists of 2 parts. E-GIS DB Part1 is integrated by urban environmental geographic information per each mesh unit including building complex planning information, land use planning and topology. E-GIS DB Part1 is input variable of urban climate simulation system. E-GIS DB Part2 is constructed by giving feedback of urban climate factors and cooling energy consumption drawn by urban climate calculation into E-GIS DB Part1. 2)Method of E-GIS DB construction this study suggested is on the target of the urban planning stage differently from existing city. Since building and land coverage planning is less fixed on the urban planning stage than the one of the existing city, building factors like use and sizes need to be extracted by approaching in the concept of ‘building complex’ in a urban block not a individual building and land cover information was obtainable by extracting natural land use like greenery or water areas from urban use plan regarding the situation after replacing original land cover with planned facilities. 3)From the case study, it was deduced that some adjustment is needed on building planning for the daytime high temperature and on land cover planning for the nighttime one, and that cooling energy use plan needs to be adjusted mainly on commercial area.
