Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics and its changes of the governmental medical facilities in the Japanese occupation with drawings produced by Joseon Government-General. Around 1910, provincial hospitals which were spread rapidly were operated with the repair of traditional buildings. After 1912, while a new planning was gradually started, main buildings were planned with the western-style wooden system yet. They had more features as the governmental facilities than medical facilities. In the middle of 1910s, each facility was renewed by removing or enlarging lot because hospitals should make a profit. So, the inner space of a main building was divided into two sections for the charity and paying patient. In the early 1920s, planning the main building, the prototype scheme was generally used. It was modified according to a condition of a site. The main building became enlarged more and the basement and patient’s rooms were planned as the part of the main building. Especially, some of the floor slab were designed by a reinforced concrete. These changes shows that features of hospital design became crucial than before. |
