Abstract |
Recently, the place identity of fishing villages which represents Korean geographical peninsula and traditional properties has decreasing and they are perceived as deteriorated area, though there are still many fishing villages, even in urbanized regions. Drawing the natural and cultural values with showing the social and cultural properties are needed to get vitality. This study is focused on ‘living-scape’ as a revitalization method of urbanized fishing villages, especially in Pusan. The common 'living-scape' of 7 fishing villages in Pusan, which have specific characteristics of urbanized fishing villages, are as follows; First, they have a deep communality because the fishing activities need cooperative relationship and sharing common properties. Second, religious beliefs with the geographical facts as coast are expressed as various ways from land to seaside area. Third, most fishing villages are located along with coastline, especially at bay area and residences because the fishing industry do not need individual work places. The living styles are also showed in residential landscape, like tight dwelling spatial structure, or narrow paths. As stated above, the purpose of this study is the awareness of the place identity through living-scape of urbanized fishing villages and provide opportunities of recognizing as resources of Korean tradition and culture. |
