Abstract |
This paper presents a new numerical method by using SVD force method for force-finding of tensegrity grid structures. In order to maintain the tensegrity structures stable, state of self-equilibrium stress should be introduced. The Force method is generalized to all types of skeletal structures, such as rigid-jointed frames, pin-jointed planar trusses and ball-jointed space trusses. Therefore this study proposes new force method using Singular value decomposition. The proposed method is both having easy basic consept and simple computation than existing force method. And a discussion on proper division of number of member groups for the purpose of existence of a single integral feasible self-stress mode has been explicitly given. Several numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the efficiency and robustness in searching initial single integral feasible self-stress mode for tensegrity grid structures. |
