Abstract |
The objective of a 3D finite-element study is to evaluate the rotation performance of Welded Unreinforced Flange-Welded web moment(WUF-W) connections for SMF System designed according to requirements of the current seismic codes. The analysis models using the general-purpose computer program ABAQUS are based on the exterior connection test results and conducted nonlinear analysis with the same boundary conditions and load protocol. The main variables of the analysis model were beam depth and slope of the weld access hole. The analytical results provided information on basic performance and the effects of these parameters using stress and strain indices. Based on the results of the analytical study, analysis models developed configuration of access-hole showed improved ductility capacity at critical location of moment connections. |
