Abstract This study has an importance on the extract of characteristics of the Ddeul-Jip in Andong cultural areas by comparing each type. Duel-Jip is a folk house type which is for the upper class, Yangban. There are two types in Ddeul-Jip. One is a Seoul? Joongbu type and the other is a Youngnam type. That is about 77.2% and this is 22.8%, because it is based on the fact that in Andong areas, there were many Yangban class who had moved from Seoul. In the Seoul?Joongbu type, the most important thing is to meet the width of Anmadang with that of Andaechung. And 3×3 type Anmadang is more than any other type. On the other hand, in the Youngnam type, Anbang and Andaechung meet Anmadang. So, 4×3 type Anmadang is common. At the view of appearance of Ddeul-Jip, there are two types, a basic type and a wing type. The wing type is divided into two wings type, one wing type and an independent wing type. In the Seoul?Joongbu type, the wing type is much more than the basic type, on the other hand, in the Youngnam type, the basic type is far more than the wing type.
