Abstract An architectural engineering education program has been recently changed to competitive and new education program. This change seems to be started from the introduction of the accredited program for engineering education and from the separation with architecture education program. It is required for establishing effective architectural engineering education that opinions of interested person be properly reflected on the education program. Up to date, related researches on the architectural engineering education program are rarely found. In order to address this problem, this paper investigated the status of a series of domestic and abroad education programs and surveyed opinions of related person: professors in architectural engineering department and experts in architectural industries. The research shows that the number of courses related to mathematics and science intends to be decreased and more computer-related classes need to be opened to provide useful tools that can be used to solve various architectural engineering problems. In addition, basic architecture common courses are needed for better understanding on architecture. Furthermore basic and enhanced engineering design courses are sequentially organized for comprehensive engineering education of architectural engineering including structure, mechanics&environment, construction, architectural planning.
