Abstract Recently, an energy saving problem has been issued in Architecture. To solve this problem, effective building energy analysis methods are firstly needed. A simulation method is one of effective ways to analyze the building energy performance. But, there are so many different simulations to be used. An appropriate simulation should be selected accordingly. In this study, the thermal performance of an apartment house has been analyzed by a building energy simulation program called EnergyPlus. This simulation is the most ordinary program to analyze the thermal performance of buildings. In addition uisng the BES and CFD coupled simulation method, the thermal performance of natural ventilated buildings has been analyzed. The coupled simulation has been supplemented each other's limitations. The energy simulation result has been compared with the progress of the coupling analysis. Through these results the most effective factor of analyzing natural ventilated buildings has been found.
