Abstract The Brussels, the Capital of Belgium has been regarded as a European Capital. The meaning of the Capital is the political capital, which is neutral state politically. Brussels is ready for geographical and spatial infrastructure which is called International Zone to accommodate various political events and to support the working members for it. Brussels has been successful to make the spatial structure that has the symbolic meaning as a European Capital trying to make the coherent effort for spatial change. Being globalization, every global cities compete each other to get the political capital status based on their identity. The objective of this study is to analyse the spatial and urban characteristics as a political capital how it can be functioned as such until now. This study also focuses on how these characteristics for International Zone can be applied to Korean situation to make the identity as a symbolic capital among East Asian countries.
