Abstract |
Base-isolation system is the most general isolation system used in seismic design of building structure. One of various methods to analyze building structure with base-isolation system is modelling the base-isolation system as a spring element with 6 degree of freedom(d.o.f.). Since in a base-isolated structures specially designed isolation systems have to provide the required flexibility and energy dissipation capacity, spring elements also should consider highly nonlinear behavior. Therefore, for the development of a computer program considering base-isolation system, spring element with 6 d.o.f., where shearing d.o.f. and bending d.o.f. should be coupled, elasto-plastic material in the dynamic analysis, and algorithm for computer programming are studied first. This paper presents an analytical model and solution algorithm developed specially for the analysis of base-isolated building structures with elasto-plastic isolation systems. A computer program sNs based on this study is developed, and the analysis results using sNs are compared with the results using SAP2000 for the verification of sNs. |
