Abstract The abnormal climate caused by the climate change and the terror occurred by the ideological conflict are showing the increased frequency recently, so each nation is preparing for the countermeasures against those disasters. Given the increased national demands and the recognition change on disaster management system, Korea also developed the temporary housing, which can satisfy the refugees in time of disaster, in 2007 and is now operate the facilities. The temporary housing against disaster should be supplied to disaster area as soon as possible and the minimum housing performance should be secured. In addition, given a huge amount of refugees can be produced in time of large-scale disaster, the site plan on temporary housing should also be considered. This study investigated the domestic temporary housing provided for the refugees produced in time of the artillery fire accident in Yeonpyeong Island on November 2010 and the Japan’s temporary construction for emergency provided to the area damaged for a big earthquake and tsunami occurred on March 2011. So it compared and analyzed the arrangement of temporary housing at home and abroad and the physical environment and composition way of residential unit. And it tried to establish the basic data for improving the domestic temporary housing through those study processes and to identify the implication necessary to improve the temporary housing in future.
