Abstract It is essential to consider geometry in the early design stage for rational design decisions. 'Parametric modeling' and 'Simulation' are essential to design facade component of smart building. In addition, it is also important to 'Test' physical model before constructing facade on site. This research proposes the framework of interactive design method for rational decision making and focused on facade design among the design objects. This is implemented as a way to install sensor, actuator, and server in the physical prototype and adopt parameter system in the virtual prototype. Real-time data is inter-transmitted on the connection of the framework. This framework can adopt BIM data in early design stage for 'Parametric modeling', 'Simulation' and 'Test'. We realize the ‘1 to 1’ communication system focusing on interactive facade design based on the framework. The single connection can expand into manifold connections for the collaborative design environment.
