Abstract |
By introducing global SPA which has open spatial configuration, in 2005, preference of customers has been changed to open spatial configuration from closed spatial configuration in Korean domestic fashion market. Due to the change of market trends, numerous researches have been conducted about the effect of space configurations. The effect of closed and open spatial configuration to the consumers’ behavior, however, are conflicting in previous qualitative researches. Thus quantitative analysis is required. We tried to analyze the relationship among the product configuration, zoning, and customers' moving pattern by means of space syntax software, Depthmap. We found that the customers are affected by the space configuration of openness in a retail store according to the analysis of space configuration comparison. The accessibility to the product has different properties by the space configuration. Connectivity to the outside of the retail store also affect to the vitalizations of retail store. According to the numerical results in this paper, the space efficiency will be maximized as the open configurations, i.e., product zoning, layout, accessibility, and openness considering inside and outside of retail store, are considered in the phase of VMD planning. |
