Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to both introduce and evaluate a new teaching method of using form as a stimulus to enhance architectural creativity for undergraduate architectural students. This teaching method is intended to be applied to entry or junior architectural students, mainly 2nd or 3rd year students of a 5 year architectural curriculum or students who have just began their architectural studies. The two main purpose of this teaching method is to train young architectural students so that they could obtain basic understanding of a building and at the same time stimulate their architectural creativity so that they could develop their own creative architectural design. The result of this study has been evaluated by documenting work of 31 architectural student of two architectural schools. The teaching method which has been evaluated in this research showed how students were able to develop creative solutions in developing new spatial relationship, spatial characteristic and additional function for a given program. Also this teaching method provided positive exercise for instructing group projects and for students when evaluating their own projects. |
