Abstract The objective of this paper is to critically review equations used to calculate instantaneous deflections for FRP reinforced concrete beams. Equations for computing the deflections can be provided by ACI 440.1R-06 design guide, CEB-FIP MC-90 and Bischoff. The results obtained from test are used to assess the calculation methods suggested by the code. Although the fundamental equation (=2) of CEB-FIP MC-90 has a good agreement comparing to ACI 440.1R-06, the existing correction factor given in CEB-FIP MC-90 are necessary to revise to more rational factors along with the type of reinforcing bar and the shape of member section.
