Abstract The purpose of this study is to evaluate the magnesium sulfate attack resistance of ternary concrete according to mixing ratio of metakaolin. The specimens were made with various mixing ratio(5, 10, 15%) of metakaolin for fly ash, blast-furnace slag(15, 10, 5%) as ternary concrete. Also, plain concrete and concrete containing fly ash, blast-furnace slag, metakaolin, silica fume(10, 15, 20%) were made as binary concrete, in order to compare with ternary concrete. Specimens were immerged in the 10% magnesium sulfate solution for 91 days, losing Compressive strength, S.D.F(Sulfate Deterioration Factor), weight change ratio and SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) were tested. From the test results, ternary concrete of containing metakaolin 15% and blast-furnace slag 5% indicates the best sulfate attack resistance. However, the severe deterioration due to magnesium sulfate attack was found in silica fume replacement ratio of 10% concrete. And, the increaser containing ratio of metakaolin, the enhancer magnesium sulfate attack resistance.
