Abstract Recently, by a strong demand of managing the building energy, the exterior insulation system is being magnified as an effective energy saving method by reinforcing the trouble spots of the outer wall and reduce the indoor cooling and heating loads. In this study, the economic feasibility evaluation and the cost structure analysis was carried out by the case study of an apartment housing. And based on the results, this study suggests the design-build integrated management counterplan; an energy reducing design, the improvement of temporary equipment to raise the productivity, and TACT scheduling method. Through the suggestions, it was envisioned to secure the high quality and construction productivity, and consider the economic feasibility between the initial investment cost and the energy cost which can be recovered during the housing life-cycle. It is expected to reinvigorate applying the exterior insulation system in apartment housing by improving the economic feasibility.
