Abstract |
In this paper, the insulating technique, named a double bubble sheet (for early frost protection of cold weather concrete), developed in previous work is modified to improve wind resistance. The modified technique (MT+BBS1:meshtarpaulin+single bubble sheet) had higher tensile strength and better insulating performance as compared with the previously developed technique. To examine the effectiveness of MT+BBS1, conventional techniques, named T1 and T2, were prepared to compare the results of a wind resistance test. In Series I, a number of zipper bags containing sand were prepared to simulate the wind resistance test by converting the wind speed to the uniform load. In Series II, the actual wind resistance tests with the wind speed of 5m/s, 10m/s and 15m/s were examined. Analysis revealed that MT+BBS1 had higher wind resistance and lower deformation than T1 and T2, and it was found that the predicted results obtained from Series I was very similar to the actual test results obtained from Series II. Therefore, it can be said that the experimental method using uniformly distributed zipper bags is convenient to simulate the wind resistance test and at the same time, precise. |
