Abstract |
OpenSees(Open System for Earthquake Engineering Simulation) is an object-oriented, open source software framework. It allows users to create both serial and parallel finite element computer applications for simulating the response of structural systems subjected to earthquakes. And, IFC data model is a neutral and open specification to facilitate interoperability in the AEC building industry. It is a commonly used format for Building Information Modeling (BIM). OpenSees and IFC, both have a good point in that they are open and noncommercial system. However, they also have a weak point in that they are too difficult to make use in field. This paper discussed the possibility of OpenSees by using the IFC structural information model in a point of practical use in field. For this, 3D frame model and 2D frame wall model were analyzed by OpenSees, and the results were evaluated in the static analysis aspects by compared with Sap2000 results. And the input components of OpenSees for static analysis, such as node, element, material, section. and load, were mapped in terms of IFC structural information models. Then, IFC entities exported from BIM tool were reviewed in static analysis point of view. As a result, OpenSees shows a good performance in frame model's static analysis, but it doesn't in frame wall model's. And, IFC model provide sufficient entities for representing OpenSees input components for static analysis. However, there are limitations in transforming IFC entities into OpenSees input components because BIM tool export IFC entities in their own way. |
