Abstract |
A thermal discomfort of residents has been greatly increased due to cold draft and uncontrollable airflows(infiltration) from a sliding window installed at the exterior walls in most apartments(without balcony space). The purpose of this study is to evaluate actual thermal performance and airtightness level of the sliding window based on a field experiment. Three kinds of sliding windows were selected and analyzed in terms of the thermal performance values such as K-value and airtightness level. Airtightness levels of sliding windows were measured on the condition of real construction. The result of measurements showed that loose airtightness levels of sliding windows comparing to ones evaluated the mock-up tests weakened the thermal performance of window frames and increased the potential condensation problems. |
