Abstract The purpose of this study is to derive the concept of "senior-friendly healthcare space". For doing this, this study establishes the conceptual range of "senior-friendly healthcare space" through analysis of previous studies and cases. Also, those design concepts and methods of healthcare space derived previously were verified by the expert survey. The results are as follows; first, the model of residential space concentrated on healthcare system is needed. Second, it is essential to focus on the sustainability and low-cost of healthcare services to improve the residential environment of the public rental housing. Third, the public space that can support healthcare of elderly people is important and the basic direction of public space is required to design different scale depending on the local environment. In addition, the basic direction of dwelling unit space is needed to organize with regard to personal characteristics such as the independence degree of elderly people and cohabitant.
