Abstract The modern Korean building code was introduced through Japan. The first building code was enacted in Japanese concession and the second was introduced by the Susinsa(修信使)' s field trip on the Japanese Government agencies. However, Korean building code was enacted as the rule of road management unlike Japanese building code and regular building code of Korea was enacted by the Japanese Government-General of Korea. The building codes of Japanese concessions took effect continuously after 1910 and these building codes expanded to the building codes of whole country including Sigajigeonchukchuichegyuchik(市街地建築取締規則) in Gyeongseong(Seoul).
