Abstract This paper reports on one-view-oriented visibility analysis and evaluation model called Viewstack. The proposed visual analysis algorithm is developed using Korean cadastral data based on Viewshed and Viewsphere concepts to resemble human's visual perception more closely. Compared to another visual analysis models, the proposed model has several advantages that is simple to utilize and can be used collaboratively with another multi-purpose analysis tools. Thus the suggested 'Viewstack' algorithm can be used for design alternative evaluation, which can give design-stakeholder assistant in a quantitative way when they run into design decision making process and so on. The objective of such analysis and evaluations is to examine and characterize view's visual perception based on urban morphologies and architectural configurations. This paper can contribute to the tool development of quantitative comparative evaluation of building shapes and spatial configurations related to the 3D observation of open space for future urban planning, design study, and practice.
