Abstract |
In Korea, the application of the same passenger traffic calculation criteria for small, medium and large airports without differentiation of their respective facilities and capability, results in a considerable variation in passenger boarding processing time.? Failing to apply the appropriate?passenger traffic calculation criteria at the initial airport design stage can result in subsequent disruption of airport operations due to remodeling as well as expansion of airport facilities. Based on extensive investigation into the causes of the?variation in passenger boarding processing time, this study has developed effective passenger traffic calculation criteria to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of small-medium sized airports taking into consideration different types of boarding facilities.?Furthermore, this study also provides passenger circulation data to improve passenger terminal planning and design with the aim of building a passenger-oriented airport. The results of this study provides a more rational floor plan criteria for passenger airport terminals, thereby improving the level of passenger service and satisfaction. This study is to propose a reasonable calculation criteria of capability of passenger terminal at medium-small size airports. It also suggests more efficient passenger flow setting and terminal planning based on the analysis of passenger flow and hours of stay. |
