Abstract Since global warming and environmental pollution issues arose worldwide, technologies and policies related with low-energy building have been developed in the field of architecture. Green BIM based technology is a way to achieve the sustainable building in the early design stage. Accordingly, this study will develop BIM based building energy performance assessment system in the early design stage. This paper suggested the system requirements and strategies to develop the system through literature review. System concept, architecture, and function modules were proposed in detail in order to develop the suggested system. This study also focused on development of interfaces for BIM based building energy simulation. Interface consists of two parts. One is the user input interface in the suggested system. The other is the convert interface which is able to convert gbXML file to EnergyPlus input file, IDF.
