Abstract The purpose of this study is to extract design elements from standard drawing on the pig house in domestic for preventing Foot-and-mouth disease. It is based on the assumption that a pig house has an effect on life pattern and health of pigs. This is ultimately for setting up basic data of the development direction of the pig house architectural design manual for preventing Foot-and-mouth disease. As a result of this study, Foot-and-mouth disease is spreaded out through the route such as direct contact, indirect contact, polluted environment and air. Therefore, blocking out the path can be seen as most basic method for preventing Foot-and-mouth disease, which include such method as bio-security and preventive, ventilation, strengthen of immunity through stress reduction. According to the analysis of standard drawing on the pig house in domestic, it show that standards are different from one another. It is judged that most guides are made by abroad case and individual experience. Therefore we should redefine specific and general the pig house architectural design manual for preventing Foot-and-mouth disease.
