Abstract |
Understanding the distribution of daylight into rooms is useful for predicting the illumination and energy loads of each units. Meeting the appropriate quantity and quality of daylight is essential for the apartment facade design based on the energy performance. The factors of facade design actually decide the sustainable building performance because the sun has the fixed pattern. In addition, the indoor environmental conditions are varied according to the location and elevation of each dwelling despite having the same shape and orientation. For this research, the different types of daylight performance metrics were simulated with Ecotect. This paper presents an overview of the apartment facade design and the results from case study: there is the difference of daylight in the indoor environment and the optimized window opening size to meet the lighting requirements in flat type apartments. According to the simulation of Ecotect and Radiance, the characteristics that make one place different from other five samples in a building were shown through the location and shadows cast by other buildings. Therefore, the main results focused on the daylighting performance of each dwelling and drew the relatively good location. In addition, the design to overcome the performance gap between dwellings can be deduced. |
