Abstract |
In this study, BIM-based power demand of each building form at the early stage design in architectural was predicted to reasonably and efficiently construct the next-generation intelligent power grid, Smart Grid. Based on building design forms out of basic elements of architectural planning, 8 basic forms were created and a simulation was carried out using them. Then, the required power demand was estimated finally in consideration of power consumption of individual buildings and the produceable amount of power. It is considered that this simulation would improve some defects of the existing power demand estimation methods. The result of the analysis of the correlation between building design forms and power demand showed that circular planning, horizontal arrangement and small facade area would be advantageous to power performance, if the gross area is limited due to the circumstances of the site. In conclusion, BIM-based building power consumption estimation simulation can improve the reliability of the conventional power consumption estimation data. Furthermore, it would provide the foundation for systematic and objective judgment on construction of Smart Grid by supporting decision-making of proper design alternatives to promote reduction of power consumption at the early stage of architectural design. |
