Abstract The unit modular Han-ok is often regarded as having lack of formative beauty and traditionality compared to conventional Han-ok even to architectural experts as well as general public. In particular, social preconceptions about prefabricated buildings become an issue in reality. Accordingly, in this study, we intend to investigate the awareness of unit modular Han-ok using actual built up Han-ok Mock-up, and serve the basis for improving the unit modular Han-ok, being able to be utilized in the planning and designing of unit modular Han-ok. Survey participants responded the unit modular Han-ok could be an alternative of new type of Han-ok for its similar shape to conventional Han-ok but was not refined and elegant comparable to the existing one, which needs the improvement of design, construction methods and materials. to compensate for the negative perceptions. In the satisfaction evaluation of physical attributes, it has shown the shape of Han-ok had a significant impact on overall satisfaction, rather than the size or roof of Han-ok, indicating a high correlation with the unit modular Han-ok. The unit modular Han-ok is a construction method that can satisfy the life of modern people while succeeding the formative beauty of traditional Han-ok. In order to spread the modular Han-ok, it is necessary to continuously develop various models based on the needs of users, and construction and transportation methods, and materials to reduce construction costs.
