Abstract |
KCI(Korea Concrete Institute) structural concrete design code provides provisions for composite concrete members in Chapter 17. However there are no provisions for the flexural strength of composite concrete members. So, the provisions for prestressed members in Chapter 9 are applied to calculate the flexural strength of composite concrete members. The equation to estimate the nominal flexural strength of prestressed members should be validated to apply to composite concrete members. In this paper, the experimental studies and theoretical analysis to investigate the validity of this equation for composite concrete members are presented. 4 specimens whose parameters are the amount and location of shear connector were tested under 4-point bending. Test results show that the full flexural strength of composite section can be developed without shear connectors in case the shear span-to-depth ratio is about 5.6. It is concluded that the equation for flexural strength of prestressed members may be used to estimate the full flexural strength of composite concrete members, because the flexural strength of the prestressed double tee slab with structural concrete topping computed from this equation is more conservative than the flexural strength calculated from strain compatibility and equilibrium method. |
