Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to manage the detailed data on the shape and layout of rebars in RC structures using IFC at construction document phase. To accomplish the purpose, we investigated the way to represent the shape and layout of rebars at construction document phase and reviewed the related studies and the IFC data structures about rebars. Then we proposed the way to make use of and extend the existing IFC data structures using user-defined Pset. Finally, we developed the application for generation and reading of IFC file in which the data on the shape and layout of rebars are represented in the proposed way. From the results of execution of the application, we concluded that, at construction document phase, 1) there are nested 1:n relations among member, rebar layer, rebar group, and rebar, 2) in addition to the 3-d geometrical shape, the conceptual shape expressed by parameters and geometry for fabrication are also required, 3) IfcElementAssembly entity can represent the rebar layer and rebar group and can manage their complex 1:n relations properly, 4) IfcReinforcingBar entity can represent rebars, 5) the user-defined Psets proposed in this study can represent the conceptual shape and geometry for fabrication of rebars. |
