Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to evaluate structural performance of beam-to-column connections for deep beams of over 750mm and less than 900mm in accordance with FEMA350 loading protocol . In this study, seismic connection details for beam-to-column connections made from SHN steel were developed. Based on the results of experimental tests, the developed connection details are suitable for the rigid connections that applicable for Intermediate Moment Frames(IMF). If horizontal reinforcing plates are installed in such deep beams, those reinforcing plates can prevent brittle fracture, and thus seismic resistance of the deep beam will be improved. So the properly installed jigs will improve the resisting capacity and make the connection to be suitable for the application in Special Moment Frames(SMF). |
