Abstract Though Goshiwon, representative quasi-housing in Korea have already become one of the usual housing alternatives for 1-person household, especially the poor, its environmental quality for residence is even inferior to the minimum housing standards recommended by the government. This study paid attention to the interior public spaces in Goshiwon. They are not additional facilities such as those of multi-unit apartment housing but essential ones now because they practically perform basic residential functions that private units don't support. By means of satisfaction survey, it was asked people living in Goshiwon at Seoul, that aspects of using frequency, size, accessbility, convenience, amenity of the interior public spaces. The result suggests that Goshiwon residents want lounge to be more satisfactory than any other public spaces, and it is needed to enact concrete rules of details of public spaces in Goshiwon.
